SPORT: WEXFORD LADIES JUNIOR FOOTBALLERS CRITICISE COUNTY BOARD
The Wexford County board has been criticised for scheduling senior football and hurling championship games for the same day as the county’s All-Ireland junior ladies football final against New York.
Wexford will face the Exiles at Croke Park on Sunday, September 28th but the ladies’ football twitter and facebook accounts have been conveying their anger over the scheduling of the games.
They’ve asked what family members and friends are supposed to do if they’re playing or supporting teams in Wexford but also want to support the ladies football team in Dublin.
But County Chairman Diarmuid Devereux says they were unable to cancel the fixtures in Wexford.
He says because of the successes of the hurlers the inter county club fixtures are way behind schedule and teams that win the Wexford championships may not qualify to play in the Leinster club competitions.
