SHATTER APPEAL DATE SET FOLLOWING RULING OVER WALLACE COMMENTS
November third has been set as the date for former Justice Minister Alan Shatter’s court appeal against a ruling that he broke data protection law.
Mr Shatter is challenging the decision by the Data Protection Commissioner that he unlawfully divulged information about TD Mick Wallace on ‘Prime Time’.
In May, the then Justice Minister disclosed on RTÉ television that the independent TD had been cautioned by gardai for using his phone while driving.
Mick Wallace – who is a notice party to the action – was at Dublin Circuit Civil Court when the case was mentioned this morning.
His lawyers say the TD has yet to decide whether he will submit a sworn statement.
