Kilmore Quay Lifeboat Launched After Concerns Raised For Fishermen

KILMORE QUAY LIFEBOAT LAUNCHED AFTER CONCERNS RAISED FOR FISHERMEN

Kilmore Quay lifeboat has been launched after a fishing boat has been at sea off the South Wexford coast for nine hours without any contact.

There is fog in the area which is hampering the search and the men, believed to be from Eastern Europe, don’t have a VHF radio onboard which means the lifeboat is unable to get in contact with them.

Four men left Kilmore Quay this morning in a small craft to go fishing close to the Saltee islands.

The boat was launched at 4.20am and sometime later dense fog enveloped the South Wexford coast.

There has been no contact since with the four men on board the vessel.

Kilmore Quay launched at 11.30am today to go in search of the boat in foggy conditions.

A number of other boats in the area have been alerted to the situation.
