ACTING GARDA COMMISSIONER SAYS MANAGEMENT SUPPORT WHISTLEBLOWER MCCABE
The acting Garda Commissioner says senior managers within the force are fully supportive of the whistleblower Maurice McCabe.
Noirin O’Sullivan says gardaí want all members of the force to feel free to bring forward any issues they want to raise.
Her comments follow reports by Independent Wexford TD Mick Wallace in the Dáil last night that Maurice McCabe has been told he has “ruined” the force by blowing the whistle on alleged malpractice.
The commissioner says senior officials have contacted Sergeant McCabe to discuss those reports with him:
“Senior garda management are very supportive of Sergeant McCabe and certainly are in contact with him on a daily basis” she said.
“I also today, on foot of some of the media reporting, spoke to the interim Confidential Recipient Judge McMahon – and I’ve actually asked would he facilitate and assist us by making contact with Sergeant McCabe’s legal advisor to identify precisely what the issues are that we’re speaking about” she added.
