IRISH RAIL FACES POSSIBLE STRIKE ACTION
Strike action could be on the card’s at Irish Rail, after SIPTU workers voted to reject Labour Court recommendations on a cost saving plan.
The company wants to change workers’ terms and conditions – in a bid to save 8.7 million euro this year.
SIPTU balloted its staff on the proposals – which they rejected by 51 per cent to 49.
The union says it will now meet with management to discuss the situation – and ballot its members on strike and industrial action.
