70 CO. WEXFORD CANDIDATES TO RUN IN LOCAL ELECTIONS
There are seventy candidates declared to run in the local elections in the Wexford constituency.
Nominations closed on Saturday for the thirty four seats on Wexford County Council.
The county is divided into four districts for membership of the new Wexford County Council.
In the Wexford District there are twenty two candidates declared for ten seats.
They include five Fine Gael, three Labour, seven Independents, two Fianna Fail, two Sinn Fein, and one each Green Party, People Before Profit and Direct Democracy Ireland.
In the New Ross District there are eighteen candidates chasing eight seats, Fine Gael and Fianna Fail four each, Independents six, and Labour, Sinn Fein, Eirigi and People Before Profit one each.
In Enniscorthy there are just twelve candidates seeking eight seats four Fianna Fail, three Fine Gael, three Independents and one each Labour and Sinn Fein.
In the Gorey District there are eighteen candidates after eight seats five Fianna Fail, four Fine Gael, six Independents, and one each Labour Sinn Fein and Eirigi.
Polling in the local and European Elections takes place on Friday May 23rd.
