RAW SEWAGE DISCHARGED INTO THE SEA FROM PARTS OF COUNTY WEXFORD HIGHLIGHTED
Four areas in County Wexford have been identified as having raw sewage flowing into the sea.
A National report by the Environmental Protection Agency looked at sewage treatment across the country – which showed Arthurstown, Kilmore Quay, Ballyhack and Duncannon still had water discharged into the sea untreated.
Brendan Wall is a senior inspector with the EPA.
He’s called on the government to eliminate environmental issues in relation to sewage.
Mr. Wall says there could be potentially harmful bugs in the sewage and that sewage treatment needs to be put in place as a priority as many of the areas are Coastal areas which are important for tourism.
