Our very first Outstanding Achievement Award winner for 2017 is our January winner Eddie Sinnott from Kilmuckridge who is a farmer, but his true love is the sea. Many moons ago he had a vision and decided to help his local Rosslare RNLI Lifeboat station. To raise funds he started by selling tickets and ran a benefit night. In the latter years he had a tractor pulled from Curracloe to Morriscastle and backed this up with a benefit night. Eddie and his team progressed this to a boat pull from Kilmuckridge to Morriscastle. He could not do this without his wonderful team of supporters and helpers who do so much work.
Little did Eddie think 36 years on he would still be going. Volunteering is the corner stone of the RNLI and their work is invaluable. Nobody knows when the crew will receive the shout, but they are ready to answer the call and protect our see farers. Eddie has raised €458,000 to date with a great heart and passion. To put Eddies efforts into perspective, the funds that have been raised have virtually covered the recent refit of the Rosslare Harbour Lifeboat which cost the bones of €500,000.
In light of recent events, everyone knows what the RNLI go through and without these funds the lifeboat literally could not go to sea. So many congratulations and best wishes came in from all Eddies family and friends.
Fundraising Committee Chairperson Trish from the Rosslare Harbour Lifeboat said the work Eddie does is invaluable. His work is phenomenal. A humble Eddie said it’s the effort of all the team that push him on to work so hard night and day. Without the funds raised by Eddie and his team it would be impossible for the RNLI emergency services to operate.
