TALKS PROGRESS IN NURSING DISPUTE SIPTU says it will consider a new proposal on staff recruitment and retention following 15 hours of talks at the Workplace Relations Commission. The Executive Council of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation is meeting this afternoon to consider its position following the discussions which also involved representatives from the HSE and the Department of Health. 30 thousand nurses and midwives with the INMO are due to begin a work-to-rule at hospitals across the country on Tuesday, if agreement can’t be reached. The proposal will be reviewed by SIPTU’s National Nursing and Midwifery Committee.
