There are growing concerns that Wexford County Council is putting off the problem of homelessness by spending more on emergency accomodation. Figures released today show that there were 492 homeless cases recorded in Co Wexford last month. That’s down from 538 cases in December of last year. Wexford County Council placed 109 people in emergency B&B accomadotion with the average person spending 39 days in their care. It’s estimated that by the end of the year, the bill for the emergency accomodation for the council will reach up to 320 thousand euro. That figure is almost three times the bill last year.
