We need to stop relying on the private sector to provide houses according to Éirígí.
A campaign being launched by the group – together with housing and homelessness charities – wants the government to provide affordable public housing for all citizens.
Families would then rent the properties from the government which would cover the cost of construction and solve the crisis. Éirígí says it’s worked well in other countries.
