Housing Minister Simon Coveney says while the Government is committed to pay restoration – it must be done in a timeline the country can afford. One of the largest public sector trade unions, SIPTU has agreed to give Ministers another two weeks to set a date for public salary negotiations – or it will ballot its 60 thousand members on industrial action. Pressure is building since the recent deal negotiated with Gardaí – but the Government insists Lansdowne Road remains in place until 2018.
