WATERFORD ABUSE
A psychiatric report has found that a boy who was abused by his father in Waterford is trying to block out what happened as a means of coping.
His father is awaiting sentence after a jury found him guilty of nine counts of rape between 2009 and 2011 and one count of child cruelty.
His mother was also found guilty of child cruelty but acquitted of two sexual assault charges.
In his Victim Impact Statement, her now 13-year-old son said he didn’t blame her for what happened and still has a picture of her beside his bed.
They’ll both be sentenced in October.
