WEXFORD COUNTY COUNCIL SECURES LANDMARK HIGH COURT DECISION OVER RATES
Wexford County Council has secured a landmark High Court decision over outstanding commercial rates.
It’s resulted in a liquidator being appointed to DJBD Property Management Limited.
It follows the failure of the company to pay rates on it’s property at 16 Woodbine Business Park in New Ross.
In a statement, Wexford County Council says it took the unprecedented action following a long history of outstanding rates and a lack of engagement by the company in dealing with the matter.
At the High Court hearing on the 16th of December 2015, Mr Justice O’Connor ordered that DJBD, be wound up and that David Dowling be appointed liquidator.
The costs in the case have been awarded to the Council.
Mr Tom Enright, Chief Executive of Wexford County Council stated that the action taken is not a path the Council has taken lightly and was a direct result of the lack of engagement by the company in relation to outstanding rates.
He added that the Council had a responsibility to the other ratepayers in the county and in particular those businesses in the New Ross area that are operating in direct competition with this business, to address the outstanding debt.
