700 GRAND TAKEN FROM CRC FUNDRAISING ARM TO PAY-OFF FORMER CEO
700,000 euro was taken from the fundraising arm of the Central Remedial Clinic (CRC) to pay the retirement lump sum of its former chief executive.
The Dáil Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has heard that the pay-off to Paul Kiely was over twice the amount previously disclosed.
Mr. Kiely was given a retirement payoff of over 473,000 euro, which is well over the 200,000 euro he told the committee about last month.
Barry O’Brien of the Health Service Executive (HSE) said the CRC charity fundraising arm needed to cover the cost of the payout.
“The payment to Mr. Kiely could not have been made by the CRC if the 700,000 euro had not been received from the Friends and Supporters” he said.
