250 JOBS TO GO AT LIBERTY INSURANCE IN CAVAN AND DUBLIN
270 jobs are to be lost at Liberty Insurance.
250 redundancies will come from Cavan and Blanchardstown with a further 20 lost at the company’s call centre in Fermanagh.
In a statement, Liberty Insurance says workers in Cavan and Dublin were told about the job losses at meetings this morning.
The firm, which took over from Quinn Insurance in 2011 – is seeking a total 270 voluntary-led redundancies over the next 18 months.
It says that final numbers are uncertain – but it expects 135 redundancies in Blanchardstown; 115 in Cavan and 20 from its call centre in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh.
The job cuts are being sought because Liberty is closing its UK insurance operation – it will engage with workers during a consultation period over the next 30 days.
President Luis Bonnell says the company is committed to building a successful business in Ireland and will continue to create jobs.
