150 NEW JOBS FOR THE SOUTH EAST
As many as 600 new jobs are to be created across the country following four separate announcements.
Swissport Ireland Ltd. is set to grow its ground handling services at Dublin Airport with the creation of over 200 new jobs.
Separately, APC Limited a pharmaceutical research company based at Cherrywood in Dublin has announced the creation of 100 new jobs to develop medicines to treat cancer and HIV.
Also in Dublin, the old Charlemont Clinics is set to be turned into a hotel with the creation of 100 jobs.
The Dalata group has acquired the site and plans to complete the planning process, creating 100 new jobs, when the hotel is operational.
Meanwhile, US pharmaceutical company MSD says it will create 200 new positions by the end of the year.
110 new posts will be created at the firms site in Carlow, with a further 50 new jobs in Cork while 40 new positions will be created in Tipperary.
MSD Associate Vice President, Ger Carmody, outlines the kind of positions on offer.
“We’re hiring across a wide-range of areas: engineering, quality, operations and supply chains in particular” he said.
“Carlow, our newest site in Ireland, is hiring 110 positions – again across the operations, quality and engineering areas”.
“In our site in Cork, we are hiring 50 people – again across similar areas”.
“And in our site in Tipperary we have 40 positions – primarily process engineers, organic chemists, but also across operations” he added.
